BIPOC
You Deserve Respect
As a person of color, you may experience bias, discrimination, and/or racism on a regular basis. Any person of color who has had these experiences may endure difficult psychological impacts.
Therapy can support you with addressing uniquely cultural or race-related stressors like:
- Navigating discrimination at school, work, familial, and in other settings.
- Handling direct and indirect racism.
- Understanding how race-related issues and systems in the larger cultural context impact you individually.
- Dealing with the additional emotional labor of life as a person of color.
- Examining your own racial identity and internalized messages about being a person of color in this society.
- Contending with imposter syndrome and self-doubt.
- Considering how racism impacts others around you such as your children or family members.
- Feeling detached from or having difficulty trusting others.
- Coping and responding to all of the above.
- And more.
These experiences of racism can have negative effects such as increased health problems, increased mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and irritability, and decreased social connectedness.
We can help you heal from these experiences.
Access to therapists of color is one of our top priorities.
We recognize the limited access to mental health professionals of color can make it hard to find care from a person who reflects your individual identity. The therapists in our practice specialize in working with folks with multicultural identities. We offer a safe and validating space to talk about these experiences.
At Vibrant Hues, we are committed to anti-racist practices.
