Christopher Smith, PsyD

I am a licensed psychologist within the state of Oregon. I earned my PsyD in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute. My pre-doctoral internship was completed at Iowa State University Counseling Center. My training and work experience cover a variety of settings including university counseling centers in California, New York, Iowa, and Oregon. I have provided services in Eugene for over 5 years, most recently working as the Director of Behavioral Health for Athletics at the University of Oregon.

The primary models that inform my approach are Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). To learn more about these therapies, please see the FAQ section.

I have experience working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, men’s issues, and disordered eating. Populations that I also have experience working with are collegiate and Olympic level athletes, high intensity jobs (surgeons, firefighters, executives), persons of color, and men.

I understand it is difficult to seek help. The idea of engaging in therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it is the first time. I strive to make the therapeutic process comfortable and accessible. My hope is that you feel safe enough to take on the challenge of enacting change in your life.
