Getting Started
Deciding to start therapy can be an important and empowering step. Therapy varies depending on the personalities of the provider, client, and the particular problems you hope to address.
Therapy works best when you and your therapist are a good fit.
Research on therapy indicate people who receive therapy feel better, have better relationships, learn to solve problems, and more!
In your first few sessions, you and your therapist will get to know each other and will come up with a plan for treatment. Once treatment has been established, you and your therapist will decide on appointments that fit your schedule.

What is a Licensed Psychologist?
A licensed or practicing psychologist is someone who holds a doctorate degree (PhD, PsyD, EdD) and has had years of professional supervised experience. They have clinical skills to effectively treat life stressors and mental health problems. They are licensed by the state regulatory boards (state’s board of psychology) to provide clinical services and assessments.
The pathway to become a licensed psychologist involves advanced education (5-6 years) which includes research and coursework. All psychologists must pass a national licensing exam and typically their state’s ethics exam.
