Social Anxiety
What is Social Anxiety?
Social anxiety is a persistent fear of other people’s judgments in social situations. Intense social anxiety often means you also experience some or all of the following symptoms:
- Blushing, sweating, or trembling
- Pounding or racing heart
- Stomachaches
- Rigid body posture or speaking with an overly soft voice
- Difficulty making eye contact or being around people they don’t know
- Feelings of self-consciousness
How is Social Anxiety Treated?
At Vibrant Hues, we offer Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatment for social anxiety. CBT for Social Anxiety consists of identifying the behaviors you use to help yourself feel safe in social situations, noticing avoidance, and recognizing when you are engaging in self-focus versus mindful awareness of the present moment. In addition, you and your therapist will begin exposure therapy to address avoidance and build your confidence in anxiety-provoking social situations.
